Timeliness of care for eclampsia and pre-eclampsia in Benin, Ecuador and Jamaica

This article, in the International Journal of Gynecology and Obstetrics, established that the timeliness of care for emergency cases of eclampsia and pre-eclampsia can be studied in developing countries: Measuring such timeliness is the first step toward improving care for women needing it. The study retrospectively studied medical records in 11 emergency obstetric care facilities in three countries. While timeliness could be measured objectively, the effectiveness of care was subjectively assessed by trained obstetricians.
