Improving Compliance with Standards for Essential Obstetric Care in Bolivia

This case study highlights the experiences and results of six labor and delivery quality improvement teams at three hospitals and one health center in Ichilo, Bolivia. The teams formed in August 2000 as part of a Quality Assurance Project technical assistance intervention aimed at reducing maternal mortality in Bolivia, a country that had one of the highest maternal mortality rates in Latin America (2002, 29 pages).
