HIV and Nutrition: The Impact of Just a Little Bit of Knowledge

File Type .pdf | File Size 1.44 MB

Network Support Agents (NSAs) in Uganda are people openly living with HIV that help strengthen the links and referral systems between communities and health facilities. NSAs counsel their peers and lead by example, encouraging disclosure, HIV/AIDS testing, drug adherence, and positive living. The NuLife-Food and Nutrition Interventions for Uganda project supported the introduction of nutrition into on-going NSA training, and in this story, two community volunteers share how their newly-acquired nutrition knowledge has empowered them to change their own dietary practices and to reach out to their communities.
