Historia de Éxito Auxiliar de Enfermería Obstétrica Maya Salva la Vida de Gemelos y Su Madre (Spanish)

File Type .pdf | File Size 842.95 KB

URC worked in close partnership with the Guatemalan Ministry of Health and the National School of Nursing to train Mayan auxiliary nurse-midwives throughout the country and especially in its remote and underserved areas to detect the obstetric complications that cause high rates of maternal mortality. The nurse-midwives were trained to quickly detect signs of complications and to refer patients in time to receive critical medical care. This success story tells how a Mayan midwife's recognition of obstetrical complications resulted in saving the lives of newborn twins and their mother.
