The USAID-funded TRAction Project awarded funding in August 2011 to Duke University to conduct research on behavior change communication (BCC) strategies that will increase the acquisition and correct use of improved cookstoves in Uttar Pradesh, India. The research aims to identify successful BCC strategies that can be scaled-up as a method for increasing clean cookstove use, with the ultimate goal of reducing indoor air pollution and improving health. This Fact Sheet provides an overview of Duke University’s research, which is being conducted in partnership with India’s Project Surya.
