Engaging the press, community radio and local theater groups to change behavior— through community radio, theater, and music

File Type .pdf | File Size 2.37 MB

This USAID Success Story explains how the Integrated Family Health Program (PISAF) in Benin developed a strong cadre of professionals in the press, radio, and theater to deliver messages about health and development. PISAF trained radio professionals to prepare messages addressing malaria prevention and care seeking, the prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HIV, and maternal and newborn care. Similarly, musicians were trained to write songs about health, resulting in both public performances and recordings for radio presentation, and theater troupes were trained in community theater for health.
