Accessibility of ART in St. Petersburg and Orenburg City, Russia

File Type .pdf | File Size 670.88 KB

While the availability of antiretroviral therapy (ART) rose in Russia, uptake remained low. The Quality Assurance Project asked Stellit, a Russian nongovernmental organization helping people with HIV/AIDS, to assess the factors preventing people with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) from seeking, accepting, and adhering to ART. This report presents findings from focus groups of PLWHA and interviews with experts; it also offers recommendations relative to the general population, the medical and social care system for PLWHA, and their social contacts (2008, 30 pages).
