Increasing HIV Testing and Counselling in the Kingdom of Swaziland

This technical brief describes URC’s work in the Kingdom of Swaziland to introduce and strengthen Provider Initiated HIV Testing and Counseling (PIHTC). Due to the high rate of co-infection of TB patients with HIV, the project has  focused on working in 28 TB diagnostic centers nationwide increasing the number of TB suspects and patients being offered HTC services and referred for onward care, as well as introduced PIHTC as routine practice in general healthcare services. The brief looks at the strategies for strengthening PIHTC, key project results, future needs and next steps for HTC in Swaziland.
