Strengthening Pharmaceutical Systems (SPS) Program

Overview and Objectives

URC provided technical support to strengthen pharmaceutical human resources planning, management, regulation, development, and performance in Afghanistan. The program strengthened the country’s regulatory system, improved supply chain management, built human resource capacity, enhanced pharmaceutical services, and upgraded pharmaceutical information management.

Specific project objectives include:

  • Designing and initiating a process for establishing a system and structure for the regulation of pharmaceutical human resources;
  • Strengthening and streamlining the pharmaceutical human resources information system for planning;
  • Integrating workforce projection models in the official planning process;
  • Analyzing and addressing performance gaps in government, NGOs, and other priority workplaces; and
  • Establishing a system and structure for accredited pharmaceutical in-service training.
