Healthcare-Associated Infections and Antimicrobial Use Prevalence Survey, Phase II (HAI)

Overview

URC evaluated data collection and reporting activities for health care-associated infections (HAI) and antimicrobial use in 23 health care facilities in 10 US states. This survey was part of a larger undertaking by the CDC to determine the viability of a national HAI and antimicrobial use survey.

Key Activities

  • Visit health facilities to review patient files to make HAI determinations and antimicrobial use assessments
  • Upload resulting data to the National Healthcare Safety Network database for comparison with a parallel CDC-directed data abstraction
