USAID TB CARE II South Africa Project has a strong presence at the 7th AIDS Conference
The USAID TB CARE II South Africa Project, managed by URC, participated in the 7th AIDS Conference on June 9-12, 2015 in Durban. The project showcased its work in the country in supporting the government fight against tuberculosis (TB) and HIV/AIDS.
TB CARE II participated in panel discussions and satellite events. We also provided information and materials from our exhibition stand. Materials on display included technical briefs, smart cards, TB in the mines brochures and TB screening tools. Public service announcements on TB/HIV and TB in children were also broadcasted throughout the event.
Over 400 conference delegates visited the exhibition stand and sought information.
Delegates from various health care facilities throughout the country, especially KwaZulu-Natal, were keen to obtain TB posters and smart cards for their clinics. The Project distributed a total of 3000 posters, 2650 smart cards, and 500 infection control stickers.
Participants who visited the stand also took the opportunity to seek guidance on how to address some challenges they face when delivering services. The project’s TB/HIV Technical and ACSM Advisors were on hand to respond to these and other queries.
