URC to conduct a national TB prevalence survey in Lesotho

We are pleased to announce that URC has been awarded a contract by the Global Fund Coordinating Unit of the Ministry of Finance in Lesotho to conduct a National Tuberculosis Prevalence Survey.

The goal of the survey is to enable the national TB program to gain a better understanding of the TB burden so as to identify ways of improving TB control throughout the country.  The survey sample will be about 30,000 adults nationwide.  The overall objective of the survey is to determine the national prevalence of bacteriologically confirmed pulmonary TB in Lesotho among adults.

URC, along with its survey partners NEXT and AQUITY, will work closely with key stakeholders in the country.   This National TB Prevalence Survey and the information collected will contribute to the improvement of TB control and prevention interventions in Lesotho thanks to up-to-date and reliable data on the disease burden. The outcome of this effort is indispensable for strategic planning, policy formulation, as well as for monitoring and evaluating national and international strategic frameworks.

This win helps URC to further strengthen its evaluation and survey planning and implementation capacity.
