URC at ACCESS International Health Conference

URC is participating in the Arab Community Center for Economic & Social Services' (ACCESS) seventh International Health Conference in Oman from March 1–7, 2015, held under the patronage of H.H. Al Sayyid Shihab bin Tariq Al Said, Advisor to his Majesty the Sultan. The conference, which was jointly organized with ACCESS' Community Health and Research Center and the Sultanate of Oman Ministry of Health, discusses key health issues in Arab communities. It aims to enhance the understanding of cultural and social factors that influence relevant health issues in the Arab population and to share knowledge and leverage resources for the purpose of improving health outcomes in the Arab communities. The conference focuses on six themes: capacity building; social determinants of health; infectious diseases; occupational health, trauma and environmental hazards; mental health and chronic disease and ethics and palliative care.

URC is hosting a booth at the conference to highlight work in the region, including the scope and impact of our projects in Iraq, and share lessons learned. In addition, the Primary Health Care Project in Iraq, funded by USAID and managed by URC, will present the project's study, Assessing Maternal and Child Health Quality and Barriers to Improvement in Iraq. PHCP Chief of Party, Hala Jassim AlMossawi will facilitate the discussion and the presentation on Wednesday, March 4, 2015.
