Dr. Diarra honored by US Embassy in Mali for International Women's Day, 2016

Dr. Houleymata Diarra, USAID ASSIST Project Chief of Party, was featured yesterday by the Embassy of the United States in Mali, which is presenting 30 inspiring Malian women this month in honor of International Women’s Day, March 8th, 2016.

The Embassy describes Dr. Diarra as “a dedicated, motivated, humble leader, passionate for her work and her contribution to the national system.” We here at URC have been honored to work with her for many years, and we offer our heartfelt congratulations to her for this recognition of her strength, brilliance, and dedication to empowering her community and improving its health systems.

Dr. Houleymata Diarra est Chef d’équipe du Projet ASSIST financé par l’USAID-Mali. Grâce à son leadership et sa technique de gestion, le projet ASSIST de l'USAID a renforcé la capacité du personnel de santé dans plusieurs hôpitaux et centres de santé périphériques dans le but d’obtenir les meilleurs services de santé. Médecin de formation, avec plus de 20 ans d’expériences en santé publique et gestion des projets de santé maternelle, néonatale et infantile, nutrition/WASH, Dr Diarra est une leader engagée, motivée, humble et surtout passionnée par son travail et sa contribution à l’édifice nationale. Elle a occupé plusieurs postes de direction des projets de santé sur le plan national et a aussi international en tant qu’experte technique en santé. Avec un talent de rassembleur et une touche féminine maternelle, elle parvient à toujours mettre en place une équipe forte de différentes expertises pour atteindre les objectifs communs de ses projets, des bailleurs et du Gouvernement de son pays. Sa contribution dans la mobilisation de ressources en faveur des programmes de santé et développement pour son pays est exceptionnelle durant sa carrière. Aux yeux de ses collaborateurs, elle est une source d’inspiration et un exemple de rigueur, travailleur toujours disponible à aider et soutenir tout le monde tant sur le plan professionnel que personnel. Selon Dr Diarra, l’Humain est la clé et la base de tout succès et en le cultivant on arrive à gagner toujours tout en indiquant que pour elle, le #8mars une journée de consécration sacrée ou il faut donner plus de soi pour amener les autres femmes à mieux comprendre leur rôle de leader dans la construction familiale qui fera du Mali notre havre de paix et de bonheur. #30jours30Femmes #8Mars #FiereDetreFemme


Dr. Houleymata Diarra is Chief of Party of the USAID ASSIST Project, funded by USAID-Mali. Thanks to her strong leadership and management, the USAID ASSIST Project has strengthened health worker capacity in many hospitals and health centers in their goal to provide the best health care services. A physician by training with more than twenty years of experience in public health and project management in the areas of maternal, newborn and child health and WASH/nutrition, Dr. Diarra is a dedicated, motivated, humble leader, passionate for her work and her contribution to the national system. She has held management positions in several national and international health projects, and is a technical health expert. With her talent in bringing people together, and her feminine maternal touch, she always succeeds in putting together a strong team with diverse expertise to achieve the objectives of the projects, its donors, and the government of her country.

Her contribution in mobilizing resources for health and development programs for her country has been exceptional throughout her career. In the eyes of her colleagues and clients, she is an inspiration and an example of rigor, always available to help and support everyone, both professionally and personally. According to Dr. Diarra, humanity is the key and the cornerstone of all success—if we cultivate this, we will always win. For her, #8Mars is a day of sacred consecration: we must give more of ourselves to help women better understand their role as leaders in strengthening the family, which will make Mali a haven of peace and happiness.
