URC improves the quality and safety of health care services by helping countries establish national accreditation systems, develop standards, conduct certification courses for health care professionals, and prepare facilities and programs for accreditation. Our Jordan Healthcare Accreditation Project, which is funded by the US Agency for International Development, has played a key role in establishing the Health Care Accreditation Council (HCAC), Jordan’s national health care accreditation agency. During the past eight years, URC has assisted HCAC to establish itself as an internationally recognized leader in building a culture of quality and patient safety.

URC’s technical assistance and capacity-building have achieved the following results to date:

  • HCAC was established as Jordan’s national health care accreditation agency.
  • The International Society for Quality in Health Care (ISQua) has accredited HCAC, its hospital standards, and its surveyor training program.
  • Since its inception, HCAC has accredited numerous facilities, trained and certified health care professionals, and developed various sets of accreditation and certification standards.
